Fossil Ridge Faculty >> Math >> Ms. Garcia
In June of 2008, I moved to St. George, the land of the red rock, from Salt Lake City in order to teach math at Fossil Ridge. I have had an interesting life filled with travel and adventure. In 1987 we moved to Germany and lived there for nine years. We then moved to Incirlik, Turkey and lived there for 3 years. I have been to more than 20 different countries and have traveled extensively. I have a great interest in the ancient civilizations and have seen ancient ruins in Israel, Turkey, Cyprus, Italy, and Mexico. I have toured many castles in Europe and even attended a 4 day workshop at Kranzberg Castle in Germany (a castle that is presumed to be haunted). I love the arts and enjoy going to galleries and museums.
I have 3 children who are all grown and out of the house. My oldest son lives and work in public service in Salt Lake City, my daughter is a Spanish teacher at a Charter School in Salt Lake City, and my youngest son has recently joined the navy and will be traveling the world. I have a 3 year old grandson who is extremely intelligent and is already speaking both Spanish and English due to his mother's love of language.

In 1999 I returned to Utah and attended UVSU in order to acquire my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I graduated in 2003 and obtained a position with the Granite School District teaching 6th grade. I received my ESL endorsement from Weber State University in 2004, and graduated with my Master's degree in Instructional Design and Educational Technology from the University of Utah in 2006. I am a life long learner and I love my job and my students.
