Fossil Ridge Faculty >> Orchestra >> Mrs. Hawkins
Marilyn Hawkins was born and raised in Southern California when orange groves were across the street, pine trees grew in the school playground,
walnut trees, vineyards and vegatables gardens flourished and pigeons, chickens, and turkeys roamed the yard. She
always loved music and was fortunate to get piano lessons when she started college. Mrs. Hawkins finally had the oppurtunity to learn the violin when she
attended the University of Utah and eventually graduated in Music Education. Her first teaching position was in Pocatello, Idaho. There, she got married
and had three children. After ten years, she moved to Saint George. Shortly after, she became a single parent and began building the string
orchestra program in the schools.
Mrs. Hawkins was happy to remarry in 2004 and moved to Toquerville, Utah. In addition to music, she also loves animals (especially horses) and
cats. She also loves reading historical novels, camping, tennis, ping pong, hiking and biking.
